Abstract
The skin is the largest and most prominent organ of the body, covering
two square meters and making up 16–20% of total body weight. It is a
reflection of the body's interior structure rather than just a protective
covering. One of the five sense organs (Dnyanendriyas), Twacha
(skin) covers the entire body and aids in determining the touch
sensation (Sparsh dnyan). According to their roles and the diseases
associated with them, the layers of the body were very precisely
described by the Acharyas. According to cell division, modern health
science has a detailed description of skin. There has also been an
attempt to link the layers of skin to Twacha. It is essential to
thoroughly grasp the structure and function of skin in order to
comprehend any skin condition (Twacha Roga). There are many
different perspectives and enigmatic ideas regarding Twacha in Ayurveda, all of which can be
helpful in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of a variety of illnesses.
