A CRITICAL REVIEW OF LITERATURE OF SURYAVARTA

Abstract
Ayurveda is the primitive medical science originated during vedic
period. At those periods they already mentioned many number of
diseases along with their signs, symptoms and prognosis as well as
different method of management including local therapy and surgical
treatment. This ayurveda modality of treatment and therapy should
reach the society for sustaining good health socially, mentally and
physically. The drug used should be easily available and effective in
treatment with low cost and ensure good results. In classics we find 11
types of shirorogas, Suryavarta is one among them. It has become
common clinical complaint in present day-to-day life with headache as
one of its cardinal feature. The cardinal feature of suryavarta are severe
pain in region of akshi (eye) and bhru pradesha (eye brow) with
characteristic periodicity which begin in early morning hours gradually increase and reaches
its peak by noon and then starts decreasing by evening. Most of the clinical features of
suryavarta disease can be correlated to the clinical features of frontal sinusitis. The
occurrence of the suryavarta disease has become more prevalence because of some common
nidanas, aharaja and viharaja bhavas.
