A CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF SUVARNAPRASHANA & SARASVATA GHRITA ALONG WITH SPEECH THERAPY IN THE CASES OF MUKATVA (W.S.R. TO CHILDHOOD ONSET FLUENCY DISORDERS)

Abstract
Speech refers to the mechanics of oral communication or the motor act
of communicating by articulating verbal expression. Language is encompass
of understanding, processing, and production of
communication. Stuttering is the common defect which is
characterized by hesitation or spasmodic repetition of some syllables
with pause it is easily found in children below 5years. Stuttering
usually begins at 2-4 yr of age and is seen more often in boys (4:1)
then girls. Approximately 3-5% of preschool children stutter to some
degree; only 0.7-1% of young adults stutters. For such children this
study was designed and 45 children who are diagnosed with childhood
onset of fluency disorders within the age group of 2 yrs to 10yrs of
irrespective of gender and religion were selected randomly from the OPD and IPD Balarog of
PLRD hospital were included and also special schools from khurja and chatna special school
in khurja . They were given suvarnaprasahana and sarasvata ghrita along with speech therapy
for 03 months/90 days. Three groups were formed to evaluate the effect of therapy. Group ASwarnaprashana
along with speech therapy shows highly significant results after two follow
up when compared to other two groups were as Group B- Saraswathagrita along with speech
therapy also shows significant results on some parameters after second follow up. Group C-only speech therapy shows significant results on some parameters in first follow up ,while in second follow up there is no much shift in results.
