Abstract
Angiokeratomas are a group of rare benign vascular tumors of the
skin.[1] They are basically ectasias of the blood vessels in the
superficial dermis, associated with hyperkeratosis and acanthosis in the
epidermis.[1] They have a wide range of presentations, and are seen as
red to purple coloured macular and papular lesions, approximately 2 to
4mm in size lesions, and do not blanch on pressure. They can be of
varying size, depth and location.[2] Males are more commonly affected,
when compared to females. Here we present the case of a 30 years old
female patient, who presented to the dermatology OPD, with
complaints of dark coloured skin lesions over the genital region since 1
year. It was associated with itching. Excision biopsy was done and sent
for histopathological examination, where it showed features of
Angiokeratoma. Patient was given cryotherapy treatment. We
presented this case report due to its rarity.
Keywords: Angiokeratoma, benign neoplasm, ectasia of blood vessels, cryotherapy.
