Abstract
The objective of the present study was to investigate the presence of
phytochemicals from the methanolic extract of Limonia acidissima L.
Fruit and their anti-microbial action against various Gram-positive and
Gram-negative bacteria. Herbal Medicines are the major remedy for
traditional system of medicine have been used in medical Practices
since ancient times. . Limonia acidissima L. belongs to a monotypic
genus Limonia and is classified under the family Rutaceae. It is an
exotic deciduous tree found in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Southeast
Asia. The Potential antimicrobial activity was examined by minimum
concentration and zone of inhibition Analysis. The antimicrobial test
was carried out using disk diffusion methods. Phytochemical screening results of ethanol
fraction Limonia acidissima can be detected in the content of alkaloids, terpenoids,
anthraquinones, and saponins. Methanol extract showed good antibacterial activity with the
high inhibition zones.
