A CRITICAL REVIEW OF AVAILABLE LITERATURE AND SCIENTIFIC STUDIES FOR MANAGEMENT OF POST-CAESAREAN BACKACHE

. Abstract From the primitive age of era to this current globalized world becoming mother is most pleasant event in women life but currently the propensity of caesarean section is increasing expeditiously. Which had to bear the consequences with many health issues, post-caesarean backache is one among them. Caesarean section is a surgical procedure performs under selected (spinal or epidural) anesthesia to ensure the safety of both mother and child. This procedure is recommended when normal vaginal delivery is under risk. The proportion of caesarean section to the total births is considered as one of the important indicators of emergency obstetric care (World Health Organization, 2009). High rate of caesarean section worldwide beside this, the incidence of chronic post-surgical pain and the risk factors for this condition remain relatively unknown. The various studies reveal that the spinal anesthesia will be the cause of scar tissue and back pain in post-partum women. Back pain is common health issue affecting 50% to 80% of population globally and it is a major physical and economical burden for the individual as well as society.[1] The prevalence of nonspecific low backache is more than 84%, the incidence of chronic low back pain is about 23%, and 11- 12% of the population suffered disability with this pain.[2] The primary aim of this paper is to review the literature available on post-caesarean backache along the experimental studies conducted to date.
