HEART DISEASE- AN EMERGING LIFESTYLE DISORDER AND PREVENTION IN AYURVEDA

. Abstract Lifestyle diseases are ailments that are primarily based on the day to day habits of people. Habits that detract people from activity and push them towards a sedentary routine can cause a number of health issues that can lead to chronic non-communicable diseases that can have near life-threatening consequences. Cardiovascular diseases (Hridyaroga) are serious public health concerns across the world and more in particular in growing economies like India. Heart diseases are the leading cause of death globally. An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2019, representing 32% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke. Over three quarters of CVD deaths take place in low and middle income countries. The fundamental concept of Ayurveda emphasized the need for the prevention of diseases at first and treatement afterwards. The main concentration of Ayurveda is over the preventive cardiac care. For this purpose the preventive aspects may be classified under three heads viz., AHARA (diet), VIHARA (exercise) and AUȘHADHA (preventive medicare).
