*Vinay Kumar, Sameet Masand and Tejaswani J. Haryan
. Abstract Ulcers are the non-healing wounds that develop on the skin, mucous membrane, eye etc. There are many causes for the development of non-healing wounds but they are marked by - loss of integrity of the area, generalized weakness of the patient and a long healing time. Both wound and ulcer have some similar and some dissimilar features, even though they mean the same i.e. disruption in epithelial surface. Vrana is the condition associated with Dhatu nasha (Destruction of tissue) and characterized by Vedana (Pain), Srava (Discharge) and Vikruti (deformity) The drugs used in Trial are Jatyadi taila and Mupirocin used for cleaning and dressing of wound in group A and group B respectively. The trial drugs probably showed- analgesic (Vednahara), anti-inflammatory (shothahara), wound healing and Anti microbial effect. In Group „A‟ 9 patients (60%) and in Group „B‟ 8 patients (66.66%) has been found suitable to incorporate in this group. Patients having improvement between 50-75% in terms of Subjective and Objective criteria. In Group „A‟ 4 patients (26.66%) and in Group „B‟ 5 patients (33.33%) has been found suitable to incorporate in this group. From the above clarifications, it can be concluded that Jatyadi Taila efficiently decreases the microbial load, clinically controls infection, hastens wound debridement and can be recommended in the management of Madhumehaja Dushta Vrana. Though, the results are very good, but it is suggested the Trial drug should be tested in large scale for the long duration trial and these drugs may prove a valuable contribution from Ayurveda towards the ailing humanity. Keywords: Vedana (Pain), Srava (Discharge) and Vikruti (deformity). [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
