THE EFFECT OF SARIVAMOOLA LEPA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DUSHTA VRANA

. Abstract The meaning of Ayurveda is ‘The science of life and longevity’. It is an applied science and time tested health system with vast scope of trials to prove certain principles as well as therapeutic effects of the medicines, which is the need of the hour to make Ayurveda more acceptable globally. Every human being, one or the other day, suffers from the wound at least once in their lifetime. Dushta vrana is a common and frequently encountered problem in the day to day clinical practice. Wound and its management are fundamental to the practice of surgery. In the surgery of trauma, the wound is frequently the primary pathology. In elective surgery, it is through the wound that access is obtained to deal with the underlying pathology. In both situations, the surgeon’s task is to minimize the adverse effects of the wound, remove or repair damaged structures and harness the processes of wound healing to restore function.In Ayurveda, Acharyas explained many Shodhaniya and Ropaniya drugs and their formulations. For vrana management, Sarivamoola lepa is one among them. It contains Sarivamoola lepa is considered as Shodhaniya and Ropaniya, while Jambhira is mentioned under Sursadigana as a Shodhaniya drug. By considering the properties of these drugs, Sarivamoola lepa has been selected for the management of Dustha vrana. Keywords: Dustha Vrana, Sarivamoola lepa.
