UNIQUE GIANT FRUITS AND UTILITY OF RADERMACHERA XYLOCARPA (ROXB.) K. SCHUM. (BIGNONIACEAE)

Abstract

During the course of recent explorations from Kinwat Taluka Nanded district of Maharashtra State the authors’ came across with interesting tree of Radermachera xylocarpa (Roxb.) K. Schum. (Local Name: ‘Tagar/ Vagar’). Having exceptionally long all the fruits on the tree with the length of 110 cm.A scrutiny of literature shows that the fruits of Radermachera xylocarpa are normally up to 30-90 cm long. Most of the Floras do not indicate length of the fruit. But In Flora of Maharashtra State Dicotyledones have 30-90 cm.
