Abstract

Patha is a most important herb in Ayurveda. Patha is Cissampelos pareira Linn is botanical source of laghu patha, this is known as Velvet leaf. Patha is a climbing shrub, have red drupe berries, green leaves, seeds are horse shoe shaped. Research of C. pareira, proves pharmacological actions like diuretic, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antiasthmatic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory action. It gives a direction to researchers and to the pharmaceutical industries to develop the new drug.
