Abstract
Euphorbiaceae is the family of Euphorbia hirta. It is dispersed all over
the Indo-Pak subcontinent, generally found in waste places along the
roadsides The plant parts are generally used in traditional system of
medicines, in the treatment of respiratory disorder, gastrointestinal
disorders, wound healing infection, pulmonary disorders, urogenital
infection, tumors, lactation in women etc. The synthetic drugs used
now are more vulnerable to cause side effects than curing the disease.
Hence, the use of plant extract has now developed due to their
effective action against the disease without causing any side effects.
The plant has furthermore been used as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant,
antitumor, antidiabetic and free radical scavenging, anti-allergic,
analgesic and antianaphylactic, anxiolytic, sedative, antiarthritic,
antidiarrhoeal, spasmogenic, diuretic, GI tract, burn wound healing,
immune stimulatory, sperm motility, genotoxic, antiviral, anthelmintic, immunoprophylactic,
antimalarial, herbicidal, larvicidal possession along with others. The aim of contemporary
ethno pharmaceutical documentation on this medicinal plant was to heap up the massive
amount of fresh information of scientific research and reports available in different features
that proves its involvement in pharmacology. In this report we inspect study linked to
taxonomy, monographs, distribution, morphology, phytochemistry, traditional uses and
pharmacological uses of the plant.
