SIGNIFICANCE OF GUDARDRAKA AVALEHA IN KSHEERA ANNADA AVASTHA IN CHILDREN

Abstract
Lehana is a supplementary feed for the proper growth and
development of children. According to Kashyapa, lehana is explained
under Bala Rasayana. In Ksheera Annada Avasta, Lehana plays an
important role in maintenance of Agni, promoting immunity in curative
and in preventive aspect. In present era, 1-2 years age grouped infants
are more prone for recurrent infections, indigestion, respiratory
infections. Recent community-based estimates from prospective study
reports that 70% of the childhood morbidities among children (aged
less than 5 years) are due to ARI. Acharyas have mentioned that Bala
Rasayana plays an important role in building up the human health.
Several Rasayanas are mentioned for children in classics. Among the
Rasayanas, Guda Aardraka Leha mentioned in Lehya prakarana of
Sahasrayoga is indicated in Kasa, Swasa, Udara shoola, Atisara, Agnimandhya, and Aruchi.
Hence, an attempt will be made to study the significance of Guda Ardraka Avaleha as
Rasayana in Ksheera Annada Avasta in children.
