Abstract
This analysis study was designed to assess the quality of pond water in
sonipat district rural panchayat, with respect to the physio-chemical
parameters including Temperature, pH, EC (Electrical Conductivity),
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), TA (Total Alkalinity), DO (Dissolved
oxygen), TH (Total Hardness), NaCl (Salinity), Ca (Calcium), Mg
(Magnesium), Cl (Chloride), Na (Sodium) and K (Potassium). The
analysis results were evaluated and compared with WHO and BIS water quality standards.
From the data obtained, the water quality index was defined to quantify overall pond water
quality status of the area. It is found that based on the WQI results the samples are falling
under excellent category and hence suitable for domestic purposes.
Keywords: Physical, chemical and bacteriological parameters, pond water, water quality, water quality Index (WQI).
