MANAGEMENT OF BADHIRYA- SENSORY NEURAL HEARING LOSS WITH AYURVEDA: A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Sensory neural hearing loss occurs when there is damage to tiny hair
cells in the cochlear or the Auditory nerve. It is characterized by
sudden or steady loss of hearing, Muffled hearing, Difficulty for
understanding speech, Ear fullness, Tinnitus and dizziness. It can be
congenital or acquired. Congenital: present at birth, due to anomalies
of inner ear or due to pre or perinatal factors. In Ayurveda it can be
correlated with Badhirya. Acharya Sushruta has mentioned 28
Karnagata rogas and Badhirya is one among them. In present study we
have discussed a case of a 7 years- old male child who came to OPD of
Patanjali Ayurved Hospital with complaints of Bilateral Sensory Neural
Hearing Loss since 2 years. Audiometry report showed that Right-
Moderately Severe to profound and Left- Moderate to Profound
hearing loss. And this condition was successfully managed by Adoping Ayurvedic treatment
like Nasya, Karanpuran, Matravasti and Siropichu along with oral medicine.
