Dr. Richa Mohan*
. Abstract Ayurveda is the science of life. Shalakya tantra comprises of the description and treatment of the diseases of eye, ear, nose and all the supraclavicular organs. Acharya Sushruta has described 21 vartmagata netra roga of which nimesh is described as asadhya netra roga. This disease has symptoms similar to blepharospasm. Blepharospasm is blinking or other eyelid movements, like twitching, that you can’t control. Eyelid twitching usually goes away on its own. But people with benign essential blepharospasm can develop severe and chronic (long-term) eyelid twitching.[1] In the present case study, a middle aged patient came to SDACH with the complaints of eye lid blinking which was continuous in nature associated with dryness, fbs (foreign body sensations) in both eyes since 10-11 years. Patient had received botulin injections thrice but got no permanent relief. In this case we have treated the patient on the lines of nimesh i.e vata vitiation and shushakshipaka i.e. vata –pitta vitiation. Keywords: Blepharospasm, nimesh, shushakshipaka, dry eye syndrome, kerato conjuncitivitis sicca, kriya kalpa. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
