AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF KARNA-KSHWEDA W.S.R. TO TINNITUS – A CASE REPORT

Abstract
Background: Karna-Kshweda comes under heading of Karna Roga in
Shalakya Tantra. Venughosha-vat Shabda coming from ear is called as
Karna-Kshweda. Karna-Kshweda can be correlated with Tinnitus.
Tinnitus is derived from the Latin word “Tinnire” which means to ring
or tinkle like a bell. It is the perception of sound within the human ear
in the absence of corresponding external sound. In contemporary
science there is no definitive cure for this. Whereas Ayurveda has a
systematic line of treatment in the management Karna Kshweda. Aims
and Objectives: To study the role of Ayurveda Chikitsa in the
management of Karna-Kshweda (Tinnitus). Materials and Methods:
A 24 year old female patient came to OPD of Shalakya Tantra
department with the complaints of whistling sound from both the ears
since 3 months. She was treated with Rasayana, Ghritpana and Nasya Karma. Conclusion:
Ayurveda has great approach in curing the Karna-Kshweda.
