Abstract

Rasashastra deals with various pharmaceutical procedures such as Shodhana, Marana, Jarana, Amritikarana, Satvapatana etc for the preparation of Rasa Oushadhis. Among them Satvapatana is one of the neglected procedures and is not commonly used in practice for therapeutical purpose compared to other pharmaceutical process. Satvapatana is a pharmaceutical procedure done with an aim to extract therapeutically active principle from the ore which are free from blemishes. There are various methods for extraction of Satva from its Dhatu Dravya. Acharyas have mentioned different technique for its extraction. Here an effort is made to extract Haratala Satva from Haratala by following the procedure as mentioned in Rasachandamshu.
