Abstract

This study shows in vitro bioactive phytochemical screening of Ganoderma lucidum. For many years in the Asian region, Ganoderma lucidum has been known for its remarkable health benefits. Therefore, this study is done to enlighten its remarkable medicinal properties. A dry sample of Ganoderma lucidum was taken, which is then grinded to make powdered form of sample and then the sample was boiled with water for an hour to convert it into aqueous extract. Then Phytochemical screening was done using aqueous extract of Ganoderma lucidum. Some of the significant phytochemicals with a range of biological activity that were found include alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, saponins, steroids, glycosides, terpenes, amino acids, and carbohydrates, etc. And hence results were recorded. The identification of the phytochemicals was then used to predict the pharmacological activity of the plant and the sample showed anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, and it was concluded that Ganoderma lucidum holds wide spectrum of health benefits.

Keywords: Ganoderma lucidum, phytochemical screening, health benefits, fungus, medicinal properties.
