Gyanendriya and in modern literatures it comes under sense organs.,

Ayurveda, Netra are considered as site of Alochaka pitta. Pachaka pitta
due to its strength, obliges all other types of Pittas by nourishing them.
It is must to keep the status of Pachaka Pitta in proper balance to keep Alochaka Pitta
healthy. Food has been given the prime importance since Vedic period. It is one among the
three sub-pillars supporting life. Aahara (diet) plays major role in keeping eyes healthy. In
Ayurveda, selected classical daily regimens like Netraprakshalna (eye wash), Anjana
(Collyrium), Snana (Bath), Padabhyanga (Foot massage with oil), Nasya (nasal application
of drugs), are promoted as high-end measures for the maintenance of eye health.
