Dr. Muna Omar Salem Alkatheri*

.

Abstract

Background: Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy among healthcare workers (HCWs) especially nursing is a threat to any healthcare system. Vaccine hesitancy can increase infection risk among HCWs (Nursing) and patients, while also impacting the patients' decision to accept the vaccine.[1] Though a vaccine might never be fully effective, full coverage of vaccination throughout a community can significantly improve disease control.[2] Vaccine hesitancy is a continuum between vaccine approval and denial, which has become the most distinct public health issue in the current situation. It "refers to delays in vaccine acceptance or refusal despite vaccination services' availability.[2] Even though vaccine hesitancy is a worldwide social phenomenon, it remains a crisis among the population. vaccine hesitancy is mostly related to safety concerns related to the worry of adverse effects of vaccination in Europe.[2] Our study assessed Covid-19 vaccine acceptance among Ibn -Sina Nurses. Objective: To determine reporting the adverse effects and the acceptability of vaccination against Covid -19 among Ibn –Sins Hospital nurses in Mukalla City, Yemen. Subject and Methods: Stratified random sampling is the method of selection sample, to ensure that Nursing Ibn -Sina Hospital we included the study sampling as a total of 259. The sample was randomly chosen 150 Ibn-Sina Hospital nurses from January to April, 2022. Results: This study found that the awareness of coronavirus vaccine information and side effect knowledge was good, but there was weak practice in general towards coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination and reporting side effects among Ibn- Sina Hospital nurses in Mukalla city, Yemen. 73% didn't see forms of the drug's side effects reported, and 14% didn't know about them. A department of the pharmacy was responsible for monitoring the side effects of the coronavirus vaccine, and a low percentage of the Ibn- Sina nurses were not vaccinated with the Corona vaccine. The main reason for acceptance of vaccination among Ibn-Sina Hospital nurses was to not transmit the infection to their family. 92% of the Ibn -Sina Hospital nurses did not use forms to report side effects of medications during their employment, and 75% did not receive training or awareness from a team that monitors side effects in the hospital for Covid-19 vaccines. Conclusion: The present study indicates that awareness of coronavirus vaccine information and side effect knowledge was good, but they had weak practice in general toward Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination and reporting side effects among, Ibn –Sins Hospital nurses in Mukalla City, Yemen.
