Abstract
Ancient civilizations learned how to use plants strategically to heal
common ills and even life-threatening disorders before modern
medicine and its pharmacopeia of manufactured medications. Natural
treatments made from plants are used to treat both acute and chronic
health issues, from treating colds to lowering cholesterol and blood
pressure. Due to its safety and little to nonexistent adverse effects,
plant-based medicines were the most often used medications in the
world. This review article's objective was to provide a concise
summary of the phytochemical and therapeutic data pertaining to the
easily accessible plant Cardiospermum halicacabum Linn. This is
sometimes referred to as balloon vine, and it is widely distributed in
tropical and subtropical regions of the world. This plant's seeds, roots,
leaves, stem, and other parts are used to make herbal medicines. This herb contains
flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, saponin, protein, carbohydrates, glycosides, a variety of fatty
acids, and volatile esters, according to the phytochemical study. This plant contains
antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, antidiarrheal, anxiolytic, antioxidant, antipyretic,
antirheumatic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties because to the
presence of different chemicals.
