Abstract
Ayurveda is a traditional medical system where all fundamentals about
health and normal wellbeing are described. Skin is the front-line
protective barrier between internal structure and external environment
All skin diseases occur due to misbalance of dosha, dhatu, mala. In
Ayurveda, all types of skin disease can be considered under the
umbrella of Kustha roga (skin disease). Vicharchika (eczema) is a type
of kshudra kustha which is often characterized with symptoms namely
kandu (itching), srava (discharge), pidika (vesicles) and shyava varna
(discoloration). Vicharchika is similar eczema in modern dermatology.
Eczema is the group of inflammatory condition. it affects the outer
layer of skin, the epidermis. it has been defined as a pattern of skin inflammation that has a
characteristic morphology in acute, subacute and chronic phases. Acute phase shows clinical
features like erythema, oedema, vesiculation, oozing and crusting, whereas chronic phase
shows lichenification. In modern era, different types of pollutions, improper diet, use of
various cosmetics etc increase prevalence of skin diseases day by day. Skin disease are
common and often have an impact on an individual‟s health related quality of life. Ayurveda
is great hope in this disease because of its holistic approach and classic principle. Ayurveda
belief that the possible Nidanas (Etiological factors) usually taken like viruddh aahar vihar
are root cause of vitiating dosha and dhatus and cause Vicharchika (skin disease)
