AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH OF PCOD: A REVIEW ARTICLE
Dr. Krishna Meher*
. Abstract The most prevalent endocrine condition in women of reproductive age is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Stein-Leventhal syndrome, so named for the scientist who first identified it in 1935, is another name for PCOS. The majority of women in the reproductive age range have this endocrine condition. Amenorrhea, hirsutism, obesity, enlarged polycystic ovaries, acne, and increased androstenedione and testosterone are some of its symptoms. High levels of insulin, excess androgen (male hormone), and LH (luteinizing hormone) are the main causes of PCOS, while the actual origin is unknown. According to Ayurveda, this ailment can fall within the categories of Yonivyapad and Artavadushti rather than being classified as a single sickness. In this study, basic Ayurvedic and contemporary texts were looked up and their potential applications in the treatment and prevention of PCOS were examined. The goal of treatment is to remove the obstruction in the pelvis, treat Agnimandhya at the Jatharagni and Dhatwagni levels, relieve Sroto avarodha, and, in the end, normalise the Apana Vata. Ayurvedic dietary control is effective in treating PCOD. Keywords: PCOS, Endocrine, Amenorrhoea, Agnimandya. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
