THERAPEUTIC ROLE OF SPIRULINA PLATENSIS AGAINST HEAVY METAL CADMIUM IN ALTERATIONS IN HISTOPATHOLOGY OF KIDNEY OF CLARIAS BATRACHUS

. Abstract Kidney plays most important role in the excretion of heavy metal from the blood and regulate the blood salt balance in the fish body through osmoregulation. Cadmium Sulphate accumulated in the cells of kidney and cause severe histopathological alteration as vacuolisation in the proximal and distal convoluted tubules necrosis and loosening in the haemopoietic tissue with shrunken and deshaped Glomerulus. In the present study therapeutic efficacy of spirulina platensis was studied on the histopathology of kidney of Clarias batrachus after 30 and 45 days of cadmium and supplemented diet exposure.
