So rajonivritti is a transitional phase from madhyamavasta towards jara which refers to as menopause that is the end of a woman’s reproductive phase All Acharyas have quoted the age for the rajonivritti kala as 50 years Menopause means permanent cessation of menstruation at the end of the reproductive life due to ovarian follicular inactivity. Climacteric is the physiologic period in women’s life during which there is regression of ovarian function and may start two or three years before the menopause and continue for two to five years after it. Menopause may cause mild to severe symptoms although it depends on person to person and each individual presents with different ranges of symptoms. There are clusters of menopausal symptoms called the menopausal syndrome, that can be attributed to aging process, some to physical changes and some also to psychosocial factors. Most women experience vasomotor symptoms but menopause can affect other systems like neuro-genital, cardiovascular and skeletal systems. Hence after analysing the menopausal symptoms, we find the predominance of pitta and vata dosha involvement.
