Abstract

Background: In the upcoming era Ayurveda is emerging as a great source of healing which is presenting itself with great potential in resolving many challenges and unresolved problems of medical science. In the present scenario pilonidal sinus is increasing its prevalence and due to its lack of treatment modalities the management of this disease is becoming difficult day by day. The recurrence rate is also high in various modern treatment modalities. Ksharasutra and Kshar karma is best renowned and highly practiced method of treatment for various ano- rectal cases worldwide. In modern parameters LASER therapy is spreading its effect with great potential to heal the disease. But still both the treatment modalities are separately facing the different problems in curing the disease few patients complain pain, burning sensation, itching and inflammation after the Ksharsutra procedure. Whereas many complaints of reccurence of the disease after LASER therapy is also noticed. This Hybrid therapy is the combination of the both Ayurveda and modern treatment methods of curing pilonidal sinus which possess the involvement of Ksharsutra therapy along with LASER therapy. This combination is highly effective in reducing the post-operative complaints and decrease in the reccurence rate. It also possesses better potential of wound healing which fastens the rate of healing of disease along with short hospital stay. Taking into consideration this hybrid therapy is going to create a new revolution in the science of Ayurveda towards the modern world.
