AYURVEDIC APPROACH TO GARBHASHAYA ARBUDA W.S.R. TO UTERINE FIBROID: A CASE REPORT

. Abstract Stri is the root cause of progeny and disease of reproductive organs causes impediment in procreation. Knowledge of stri sharir anatomy and physiology of female reproductive system is necessary to find appropriate aetiopathogenesis and treatment of gynaecological disorders. In Ayurveda classics Yoni suggests the total genital path. The location of Garbhashaya is in the third avarta of yoni, at backside the bladder in between Pittashaya and Pakwashaya. Various terminologies like Granthi, Arbuda, Sopha, Gulma, Vidradhi, Arsas etc. described in ancient Ayurveda classics. It seems to be similar to tumours or cystic swellings so the classics has revealed that symptomatology of the disease entity “Arbuda can be correlated with benign tumors. Uterine Fibroid (Fibromyoma/Leiomyoma) is a most common benign neoplasm, found approximately 20- 40 % women of reproductive age group. In India the prevalence of Uterine Fibroid among women howevers between 30-35 %.. This is a single study of 38 years female (OPD Reg. No. 77469/3885) suffering from heavy bleeding with clots (8-10 days & 6-8 pads /day). The patient's USG shows Rounded echogenic areas seen in anterior and fundus of uterus measuring 30*26mm.Uterine cavity appears compressed and push posteriorly. The patient was treated with Jalkumbhi kshar with varunshigru kashaya 3 consecutive cycles. Result: The patient had got her menses normal 5-6 days without clots.
