Abstract
Nasal Polyp is Non – neoplastic masses of oedematous nasal or Sinus
mucosa. Incidence and Prevalence of Nasal Polyp is 1 and 4% in adults
& 0.1 % in Children. Male: female ratio is about 2-4:1. Nasal disorders
are increasing rapidly and resulting in high rate of morbidity owing to
increased pollution, allergens etc. The exact etiology remains unclear
but it is known to have associations with allergy, asthma, infection,
cystic fibrosis and aspirin sensitivity. The common features of the
disease are Nasal obstruction, Anosmia, Rhinorrhoea, Post nasal drip
and Facial pain. In Samhita we don’t get detail explanation of Nasa
Arsha Nidana, Samprapti, Lakshana and Chikitsa. It can be correlated
with Nasal polyp. In Ayurveda it is closely related to Nasa arsha. Nasa
arsha is a Kapha vata Pradhan vyadhi located in Urdwanga which is a kapha sthaan. In this
case study a single case of 52 years old male Patient Presented with Bilateral Nasal
Obstruction, Bilateral Nasal Discharge and Difficulty in Breathing since 3 years was taken
for Study. An Approach was made to treat the Patient by Shaman and Sthanik chikitsa with
local application of Apamarga Kshara On exposed Surface of Nasal Polyp.
Keywords: Nasa Arsha, Kshara, Polyp, Apamarga.
