CLINICAL UNDERSTANDING OF DIFFERENT LEHA KALPANA OF HARITAKI I.E AGATSYA HARITAKI AVALEHA, KAMSA HARITAKI AVALEHA AND DANTI HARITAKI AVALEHA

. Abstract Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) is one of the most widely used medicinal herb. Haritaki with its clinical efficacy in numerous medical conditions forms the main crux of ayurvedic materia medica.[1] It is such a wonder drug that ayurveda have in its quiver, which can be used in preventive, curative and also rejuvenative purposes of the treatment. Description of haritaki along with its properties and its therapeutic attributes can be seen in almost all the ancient texts of ayurveda but acharya Bhavmishra in its book Bhavprakasha Nighantu has proclaimed for the first time the complete profile of haritaki with regards to its origin varieties, tastes, different names, characteristics, and medicinal uses.[2] Avaleha kalpana are the most common secondary dosage, forms prepared with the addition of jaggery, sugar, or sugar candy and boiled with it prescribed drug, swarasa and kwatha.[3] Avaleha or leha is semisolid dosage form of ayurvedic pharmaceutics intended for internal administration. It is more popular Kalpana due to its easy administration, palatability along with a long shelf life4. In Charaka Samhita, acharya charaka mentioned the different modalities of Haritaki avaleha for treatment of various diseases.
