Dixha Chauhan*, Aanchal Mittal, Yashika Sharma and Monika Tyagi
. Abstract Gentiana kurroo Royle is a bitter drug plant native to the western and northwestern Himalayas. It is considered to be critically endangered due to its limited distribution, lack of cultivation, and high rate of root and rhizome exploitation due to the presence of the most bitter compounds, such as gentianine and amaroswerin, which have medicinal value for a variety of acute and chronic conditions, including leucoderma, leprosy, bronchial asthma, dyspepsia, haemorrhoids, urinary infections, etc. It is an important ayurvedic drug.
