A CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF TUNDIKERI IN AYURVEDIC AND MODERN POINT OF VIEW

. Abstract Tonsillites is a common infection of the palatine tonsils which are oval shaped pad of lymphoid tissue situated at the back of the throat. In Ayurveda, the clinical presentation of Tundikeri is similar to Tonsillitis, so both can be taken as the same disease. Tundikeri means Vana Karpas Phala (Gossypium herbacium Linn.). The disease or the Shotha, which appears like that of cotton fruit. Tundikeri symptoms, such as Toda (pain), Shotha, and Prapaka (suppurative inflammation), are more similar to tonsillitis. Pharyngitis often leads to the juvenile disease known as tonsillitis. Tonsillitis affects about 30 million kids worldwide and is frequently caused by viral and bacterial diseases. Usually, any infection in a developing youngster hinders the immune system as well as in the regular growth and development when there is a recurring attack. As a result, the digestive tract and airways in the throat get obstructed. Apart from medical management with antibiotics, surgical removal is the only other option remaining.
