THE ROLE OF NASYA KARMA AND GREEVABASTI OF MAHANARAYAN TAILA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MANYASTAMBHA (CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS)

. Abstract Manyastambha has been described in various Ayurvedic Texts including Bhruhatries and Laghutries. It is a Vyadhi which causes ruka (pain), toda, stambha (stiffness and restricted movements) in Manya Pradesh. Due to day time sleeping, wrong sleeping area, watching downwards and upwards for the long time, causing over stretching of neck to tridosha prakopa. The vitiated doshas obstructs the channels of Vata leading to painful and restricted neck movements. It can be correlated with cervical spondylosis. It is the general term for age related wear and tear in cervical spine (neck) that can lead to neck pain, neck stiffness and other symptoms. In Ayurveda, various methods has mentioned for the treatment of Manyastambha including Nasya Karma and Greeva Basti. Mahanarayan taila is very useful in Vattaj Rogas.
