ATORVASTATIN INDUCED MYOPATHY: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Statins (HMG CoA Reductase inhibitors) are widely used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. They are also used in cardiovascular disease, stroke and are contraindicated in liver disease. Although statins are safe and well tolerated medications, they are known for muscle related adverse effects like myopathy. The definition of statin-induced myopathy is unexplained muscle pain or weakness accompanied by a creatine kinase (CK) concentration >10 times the upper limit of normal (ULN).
