A SINGLE CASE STUDY ON ROLE OF PANCHAKARMA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF HYPOTHYROIDISM W.S.R AGNIMANDYA

. Abstract Hypothyroidism is a condition where production of Thyroid hormone by Thyroid gland is reduced than normal required quantity. Signs and symptoms of Hypothyroidism include low basal metabolic rate, lethargy, somnolence, weight gain, menstrual disturbance, ache with muscle stiffness, cold intolerance, coarse dry skin, puffiness of face, alopecia, hoarseness of voice, infertility. Hypothyroidism correlated with dhatvagni mandya along with vata and kapha vridhi. Basic principle of Ayurveda works on Karya-Karanbhav Siddhant. Which Aims to rule out nidan (causative factors), lakshan and Chikitsa along with samprapti vighatan. A female patient age 35 years old came to OPD of Kayachikitsa of SSVP ayurveda hospital, Complaining of Daurbalya, Agni mandya, Nidra Nash, kesha patan (Hair loss), shwasa Kashthta (mild breathlessness). Treatment protocol was designed as per detailed history taking and prakruti parikshan includes Vaman, shaman aushadhi like kanchanar guggul, arogyavardhini vati and aam pachak vati after shodhan and pathya apathy (dietary restriction) to be followed for 2 months. After completion of treatment protocol patient was got relief from the symptoms and levels of thyroid hormones were validated before and after treatment and found significantly improved. Principles of ayurveda will help to treat the disease which are not explained in classical text and found significantly effective in this case study. Keywords: Hypotyrodism, Agnimandya, Vaman.
