Abstract
Boerhaavia diffusa, family Nyctaginaceae, is an herbaceous creeping
plant. It is known as Punarnava. Although it acts as a rejuvenator for
all the systems of the body but basically it works as a rejuvenator for
the urinary system. Whole part of this is used to treat various disorder
of the body. The present investigation deals with a detailed account of
the pharmacognostic study and physicochemical analysis of Boerhavia
diffusa. The Research includes microscopic study, powder microscopic
studies, florescence study, phytochemical screening, physicochemical
tests and HPTLC fingerprints profile. All tests were performed in
triplicate and average values were calculated. HPTLC (High
Performance Thin Layer Chromatography) fingerprints profile was
developed and major spots Rf values and colour were recorded.
Keywords: Boerhaavia diffusa, Pharmacognostic study, Phyto-chemicals, Florescence.
