HYPERTENSION A RISING HEALTH ISSUE IN WOMEN OF PUNE CITY
Dr. Sangeeta Sawant* and Dr. Pravin Sawant
. Abstract In USA Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in women and claims the lives of more than half a million women every year. Elevated blood pressure is the most common modifiable risk factor for CVD, including stroke, myocardial infarction and renal failure. Hypertension in women has received less attention than hypertension in men and the major controlled trials of antihypertensive therapy have been carried out in populations made up predominantly of men and have emphasized outcomes in them. Women older than 60 years have higher rates of hypertension compared with men. Women are more likely than men not to know that they have hypertension and not to seek treatment. Keywords: .
