A CASE STUDY: EFFECT OF SARWANGA PATRA PINDA SWEDANA WITH SHAMAN DRUGS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AMAVATA

. Abstract An Autoimmune Diseases is a condition in which your immune system attacks your own body’s cells fail to recognize each other and mistakenly start attacking friendly cells. Autoimmune disorder affects the different organs and tissues in the body. There are many types of autoimmune disorder If untreated, this eventually creates inflammation and can cascade into a variety of diseases such as Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis - most prevalent), SLE, GBS, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus etc. The prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis is estimated to be 0.7% with around 10 million persons suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis. Ayurveda starts working on removing the toxins from the body. According to Ayurveda, toxins or ama in the body interfere with the proper functioning of the immune system, which often leads to autoimmune disorder. In Ayurveda Amavata can be correlated Rheumatoid arthritis due to similarities of clinical features. Main cause of Amavata is Agnimandhya. Amavata is a disease of asthivaha, rasavaha and Annavaha srotas. It is mainly produced due to ama and vitiation of vata dosha. The ama is carried by the aggravated vata and deposited in sleshmasthana producing features like Angamarda (Bodyache), Aruchi (Loss of appetite), Aalasya (Lack of interest in routine activity) Sandhiruk (Joint pain), Sandhshotha (Joint swelling). Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic progressive autoimmune arthropathy and characterized by bilateral symmetrical involvement of joints. Aacharya Chakradatta mentioned chikitsa Siddhant for management of Amavata which consists Langhan, Swedana, Use of drugs having tikta, katu rasa, and deepan property, virechan, snehapana and basti, By using this siddhanta a case of Amavata successfully treated.
