AYURVEDA APPROACH AND EFFECT OF JALOKAVACHARANA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF INDRALUPTA A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Hair plays an important role in the concept of beauty. Strong, attractive, lengthy hairs enhance charm to the personality. At present time complaints of hair fall increasing day by day due to tremendously busy schedules, pollution and unhealthy diet. This problem is faced by youngsters more commonly. In India up to 40% of men & 25% of women suffers from hair fall.[1] It is a widespread problem, having affected both sexes but some studies reported male preponderance. In the Ayurvedic approach, falling of hair with forming a patch is devised out as in term “Indralupta”. It comes under “kshudra rogas” according to acharya “Sushrut” while acharya “Vagbhatt” mentioned under “Shirorogas”. Alopecia is the medical term for baldness or any type of
hair loss. It is an autoimmune disease in which body attacks its own hair follicles. Hair loss is triggered by a person's genomic makeup which combined with other factors. The aim of this article is to elaborate and treat the disease as per mentioned in Ayurveda texts. An Unmarried 28yr old female patient was seen in the outpatient department of Institute OPD No.27192 with complaint of Loss of Hair. The patient was diagnosed as a case of Alopecia areata patchy (Indralupta) with clinical verdicts & investigations. As per Ayurveda for the management of indralupta Vata-Pittahar Chikitsa and increasing blood circulation is one of the key treatments. Jaloka (leeches) are effective at increasing blood circulation on the scalp and flouting up blood clots. This therapy was done along with internal medication which Patient felt reassured and Regrowth of hair on patch was attained remarked, so we hope to get the admirable result of Ayurveda in “Indralupta”.
