Dr. Neetu Bhatt*, Dr. Ashwani Dimri and Dr. Ruby Rani Agarwal
. Abstract Badhirya, the Ayurvedic term for deafness, encompasses a range of hearing impairments. Audition, also known as hearing, holds immense significance in the lives of every individual and serves as a prominent avenue for acquiring knowledge. Here we aim to explore the pathophysiology of Badhirya associated with Pipasa Vegavarodh (suppression of natural urges). According to Acharya Charak, suppression of the urge of thirst can lead to a disturbance in homeostasis and result in the condition of Badhirya. Hence, we are trying to make an interrelation between Badhirya and sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) that helps partially explain the pathogenesis of sudden SNHL. Sensorineural hearing loss, a multifaceted condition impacting millions globally, can result in considerable difficulties with communication and overall well-being. Understanding the pathophysiology of Badhirya due to Pipasa Vegavarodh can also guide the therapeutic intervention in Ayurveda. Keywords: Badhirya, Pipasa, Vegavarodh.
