Abstract
Siddha system of medicine is one of the primordial system of
medicine. Siddha system of medicine is discovered by Siddhars.
Siddhars says, human diseases are caused by imbalance of three
humours Vali, Azhal, Iyyam. Kuruthi zhal (Hypertension) is a disease
caused by inequity of azhal thathu which can be correlated to
Hypertension in Modern system of medicine. According to the 2019
report 59% of women and 47% of men diagnosed with hypertension
globally. 23% of women and 18% of men were comes under control
rate of hypertension in 2019.[1] Drugs of Siddha medicines are required
from natural sources like (Thathu, Thavaram, Sangamam) herbs,
metals, minerals and animal kingdom. Kuruthi azhaluku chooranam is
a Siddha polyherbal formulation which is indicated for Kuruthi azhal
noi (Hypertension) and it is a sastric preparation mentioned in Siddha
literature Yugi vaiththiya chinthamani perunool 800, Part-1, page no-252. This review deals
with taxonomical classification, active principles, pharmacological activity and therapeutic
uses of ingredients of Kuruthi azhaluku chooranam.
