Kampavata is defined as one of the 80 Nanatmaja Vata disorders. For
the first time, Acharya Madhavakara named the disease Vepathu.
Further in Basavarajiyam, symptoms have been described as
Karpadatale Kampa, Deha Bhramana, Nidra bhang and Kshina Mati.[1]
Correlating the disease with modern science, Parkinson‟s disease is an

loss of dopaminergic neurons in midbrain‟s substantia nigra with
prevalence rate of 0.3% of the whole population in industrialized
countries, whereas in India, prevalence is 328/100000.[2] Low dopamine

muscles. Patient‟s daily activities are hampered leading to a slow,
monotonous, and grieving life.
