AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS: A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Endometriosis is an unusual feature of retrograde menstruation that
affects nearly every woman of reproductive age. It is a chronic
estrogen dependent condition characterized by the ectopic implantation
of functional tissue lining of uterus. The exact cause of endometriosis
is not detected yet even though there are some theories which explain
the pathogenesis of endometriosis Surgery is the recommended
treatment for large endometrioma, which most women prefer to avoid.
Ayurvedic conservative treatment for endometriosis can manage pain
and may also prevent retrograde menstruation. It can be a minimally
invasive alternative prior to surgical removal that has long-term
beneficiary effects. As a seasonal regimen, yoga basti can also help
fertile women with primary and secondary dysmenorrhea enhance the
quality of life. A 32 year old married patient came with complaint with severe dysmenorrhea
and had complex echopattern in right adenaxal region. The mass lesion consists of multiple
cystic foci with some solid echogenic nodules within, Yoga basti, Tb Endotone. After three
cycles patient had relief from dysmenorrhea and USG reports were also improved.
