REVIEW ARTICLE ON RAKSHAKARMA AND DHOOPANA IN KAUMARBHRUTYA

Abstract
Aushadhis and Shashtrakarma are the two main therapy techniques that
are addressed in Ayurveda. There are sporadic allusions to
rakshakarma, which is another word for sterilisation, throughout the
old Ayurvedic writings. Acharya Sushruta was the one to explain
rakshavidhana, which is related to sterilisation. Different Yantras and
Shastras have been detailed by Acharya Sushruta in the Sushruta
Samhita. For the success of surgery they have explained various
method of sterilisation like Dhoopana with Rakshoghna Dravyas such
as Guggulu (Comiphora mukkul), Agru (Aquilaria agollocha),
Sarjarasa (Vateria indica), Vacha (Acorus calamus), Sarshapa
(Brassica nigera), Lavana, Nimba (Azardiracta indica) mix in cow
ghee, Kashaya, Parisheka, Agnitapta, Atapa etc Rae also used.
