Aashul Nagora* and Dr. R. S. Tomar*
Abstract
Acute respiratory distress syndrome or ARDS is a disease of the
respiratory system. Damage of the alveolar membrane due to any
pulmonary or extra-pulmonary insult will be the major reason behind
acute lung injury. This injury allows the migration of protein-rich fluid
in alveoli which leads to developing oedema, which hampers gaseous
exchange and develops hypoxemia. About 40% of people died due to
ARDS, and now it is a major healthcare burden. In this article, we
study the clinical aspects of ARDS and its importance.
Keywords: ARDS, pulmonary, insult, oedema, hypoxemia, clinical aspects.
