Abstract

EFFECT OF GOGHRITA TARPAN IN SHUSHKAKSHIPAKA W.S.R. DRY EYE SYNDROME

Abstract

Introduction: Shushkakshipaka is one of the disease described in sarvagata roga by acharya sushruta in uttar tantra of sushruta samhita. Which effects the whole eyeball by affecting the tear film of the eye. that is corelated as dry eye syndrome with the symptoms of discomfort, irritation, redness, itching, pain etc. Here for these sign and symptoms Goghrita tarpan is used as line of treatment as explained in ayurvedic classics. Methodology: A female patient reach to the shalakya OPD of Mai Bhago Ayurvedic Medical college, sri muktsar sahib with the signs like redness, blur vision, discomfort, itching, irritation diagnosed with dry eye syndrome. Then treated and examined after using Goghrita tarpan. Result: The subjective and objective observation are taken before and after the treatment of the patient. improvement is seen in patient in both eyes as Schirmer readings. Discussion: due to exposure of electric light emiting gadgets for a long time the tear film is disturbed, the main motive is to maintain tear film lubrication or moisture in the eyes and that is achieved by following ayurvedic treatment of go ghrita tarpan over other lubricating eye drops.
