THE POTENTIAL EFFECT OF TRADITIONALLY USED MEDICINAL PLANTS ON ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

. Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most problematic diseases of world. It is the most common type of dementia and a destructive neurological condition. The disease is gradual, starting with mild memory loss and potentially progressing to the loss of communication and environmental awareness. The brain regions that are responsible for thought, memory, and language are affected by Alzheimer's disease. There is still lack of effective cures and treatments of the Alzheimer's disease (AD). Since ancient times, several systems of medicine have used medicinal plants to heal disease. Numerous medicinal plants have been demonstrated to enhance cognitive function and may be useful in the treatment of AD. In this review we discuss about the important medicinal plants and herbs that are useful for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
