*Kishori S. Ingale, Tushar S. Sangade and Farheen A. Shah

Abstract

Medical Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women. It is characterized by imbalances in reproductive hormones, leading to symptoms such as irregular periods, excess hair growth, and fertility issues. Diagnosis is based on clinical criteria, including the presence of multiple cysts on the ovaries. Treatment options include lifestyle modifications, such as diet and exercise, as well as medications to regulate hormone levels and manage symptoms. Psychological Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) not only affects women physically but also has psychological implications. Women with PCOS may experience body image concerns, depression, anxiety, and decreased quality of life. These psychological impacts can be attributed to the physical symptoms, hormonal imbalances, and the challenges of managing the condition. It is important for healthcare providers to address both the physical and psychological aspects of PCOS to provide comprehensive care. Fertility Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a leading cause of infertility in women. The hormonal imbalances associated with PCOS can disrupt the normal ovulation process, making it difficult to conceive. Treatment options for PCOSrelated infertility include lifestyle changes, such as weight loss and exercise, as well as medications to induce ovulation. Assisted reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), may also be considered. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial for optimizing fertility outcomes in women with PCOS. Impact on Quality of Life Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can significantly impact a woman's quality of life. The physical symptoms, such as irregular periods, excess hair growth, and acne, can cause distress and affect self-esteem. Fertility challenges and the need for ongoing medical management can also contribute to emotional and psychological stress. Supportive care, including counseling, education, and peer support, can help women with PCOS navigate the challenges and improve their overall well-being.

Keywords: Polycystic ovarian syndrome, cysts, infertility, menstrual irregularities.
