AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF CERVICAL RADICULOPATHY

Abstract
The malfunction of the cervical spinal nerve or nerve root and both
parts leads to Cervical Radiculopathy (CR), a neurologic condition due
to trauma, prolonged time sitting. In this disease, severe type of pain,
which radiates from the neck to the forearm. It is also associated to the
numbness and emaciation of the upper limbs and trapezius muscles
deltoid, triceps muscles other neck muscles. Various Ayurvedic
medicine and therapy have been used for these conditions. CR treated
with a combination of Panchakarma procedures griva basti with and
Ayurvedic Medicine. A patient aged 30 years came to our institute with
the complaints of pain and stiffness in the cervical region for one year
and pain radiating to right hand from one year. Since two month he is having painful neck
movements. He was diagnosed as a case of cervical radiculopathy. MRI report suggested C2-
C3 level asymmetrical disc protrusion, C3-C4 diffuse disc bulge, C5-C6 level causing
indentation over ventral thical sac and narrowing bilateral neural foramina.
