Abstract
To keep up with the expanding and challenging field of modern
medical science research, the Ayurvedic ideas should be disserted and
refreshed in significance with advancements in the contemporary
sciences. Low back pain, which affects the movement of the legs
frequently during the most productive years of a person's life affects
40% of people. In present time, improper sitting posture of man kind
either in work or offices, jerking movements while travelling, and
heavy work specially in labour class may lead to low back pain and
even sciatica due to pressure or extra straining on spine. Low back pain
is the most common complain in present era and about 50% of working
adults experience it each year. Gridhasi, was the name given to such
presentation according to their symptoms, which were also common in
earlier times. It is also known as Shoola Pradhana Vata Vyadhi. Here, Ayurveda plays an
important role to work on vitiated doshas that are responsible for causing a disease. Hence
present open labelled clinical study randomly total 30 patients having symptoms of Gridhasi
were selected, they were divided into two groups, group A received Erandmooladi Niruha
Basti in Madhyam Matra daily for 8 days and group B received Erandmooladi Niruha Basti in Heena Matra daily for 8 days. And hence to compare their effects in relieving signs and symptoms of the disease.
